Register for Barbershop Conversations
Barbershop Conversations is a documentary that looks at the important space of community for men. Barbershop Conversations is a film featuring our moderator George M. Johnson, Impulse Group Board and community leaders. The barbershop is a place in which everyone comes no matter the background and it can be both sacred and traumatizing—especially for queer folk. It is a place that teaches us manhood, exists through adulthood and forms semblances of brotherhood but makes queer folk shrink to exist. We delve into what it would be like to have affirming conversations in a space that can be homophobic and full of toxic masculinity. Premiering Friday, August 3, 2018 at 8 PM on the esteemed campus of University of Houston SC South Theater located at 4455 University Drive, Houston, TX 77004, we hope that you will register below and attend what promises to be a moving celebration in queer culture.
